Description

Infantry weapons teams play a crucial role in any Bolt Action army, offering significant tactical flexibility and challenging opponents with various threats. Among the most prevalent teams are sniper teams, anti-tank teams, and flamethrower teams, each with its unique capabilities.

The Panzerschreck, a German adaptation of the American bazooka, made its debut in North Africa. This weapon fired a large-caliber shaped-charge rocket projectile and produced an intense back-blast during firing. Early teams used protective capes and masks to shield themselves from the back-blast, but later, a blast shield was added to the weapon, giving it a distinctive appearance. By 1944, the Panzerschreck and the disposable anti-tank Panzerfaust had replaced the older Panzerbüchse 39 anti-tank rifle.

During the grueling Battle of Stalingrad, Russian snipers inflicted heavy casualties on the besieged German forces. In response, the Germans began training and equipping their own marksmen to specialize as snipers. Various rifles were used for sniping, including the standard KAR-98K and the semi-automatic Gewehr 43, all fitted with the high-quality ZF39 telescopic sight and loaded with precision-manufactured ammunition.

Flamethrowers, known as Flammenwerfer in German, saw use throughout the war and were often employed against buildings and fortifications. In the later stages of the war, the Germans developed a lighter, smaller design that carried enough fuel for a single burst – essentially a one-shot flamethrower known as the Eintossflammenwerfe. However, it remains unclear whether this weapon was ever deployed in actual combat. Infantry weapons teams armed with these diverse and deadly tools added depth and versatility to infantry units in Bolt Action battles.
