Space Marine Vindicator
"Let them hide in their fortress. My crew can use the target practice.”
— Brother-Sergeant Antaro Chronus, the Spear of Macragge, Chapter of the Ultramarines
The Vindicator is an Imperial siege tank based on the Rhino chassis used by many Space Marine Chapters, and features the most powerful weapon of its kind in the Adeptus Astartes' standard armory, the Demolisher Cannon. Highly valued, it can only be issued to company officers whose units have been tasked with a specific tactical requirement.
Although short-ranged, the Vindicator's Demolisher Cannon is capable of destroying enemy armor and fortifications with a single shot. The vehicle is an integral part of every armored spearhead the Space Marines unleash. There is little that can withstand the pulverizing fury of a defender. It's a rare Space Marine tank attack that doesn't use a Vindicator in its vanguard.
The Vindicator is typically deployed during battles that take place in cities or other dense terrain such as jungles, where the Demolisher Cannon's short range does not affect its performance. Similar to the Rhino and Predator tanks, the Vindicator is one of the oldest vehicle types still in use by the Empire. Space Marine Main Battle Tanks are not permanently tied to one company. Instead, they form a pool of vehicles, and individual tanks are available to Space Marine commanders as needed.
The Vindicator is armed with a hull-mounted, forward-firing Demolisher Cannon. This large weapon fires massive, rocket-propelled, high-explosive shells capable of inflicting great damage on enemy structures. Multiple Demolisher Cannon shells fired from this tank are usually more than enough to bring down most buildings. The Vindicator is often used in city battles or battles in dense terrain such as jungles and forests, so the weapon's relatively short range does not affect its performance. The Vindicator is not equipped with any other weapons, but can be equipped with a spigot-mounted storm bolter. Due to the size of the Demolisher Cannon and its automatic ammo loader and storage magazine, there is only room for two crew members, meaning that with a trunnion mounted weapon, either another crew member is added or one of the existing crew members has to break their previous duty manning the weapon .
The Vindicator is usually fitted with an oversized and thick dozer shield known as a siege shield, which protects the tank from enemy fire and allows it to clear debris and rubble out of the way so other units can advance.
This box set contains a multi-part plastic Vindicator. This 99-part kit contains additional components to arm the Vindicator with a Hunter Killer missile and storm bolter, and can be assembled with either a closed hatch or a visible tank commander.
