Description
Only the mighty Yamato outperformed the massive but very fast Iowa-class battleships. Known as the "Mighty Mo," the USS Missouri was the last US-commissioned battleship and served as the scene of the Japanese surrender during World War II. Serviced well beyond World War II, Iowa-class ships were upgraded with modern electronics, weapon systems and cruise missiles - the USS Missouri was finally decommissioned in 1992 after a remarkable career.
