The Masque of Slaanesh
This kit contains 10 plastic components including a selection of masks for the mask staff. The model is supplied with a 32mm round base.
The Masque of Slaanesh, also known simply as The Masque, is the most notorious daemonette and Herald of Slaanesh to ever plague the galaxy's sentient creatures. Once the favored dancer and chief maid of the Chaos God Slaanesh, she was cast out by her master and cursed to dance through the Materium and the Immaterium forever. The Mask has turned this curse into a powerful weapon, forcing any being it can seduce with its hypnotic dance to join in its performance until the unfortunate soul drops dead from exhaustion.
Once the chief maid of Slaanesh, the mask used to comb the Dark Prince's lustrous hair and oil it with scented balm. When Slaanesh's mood was somber, the mask danced to illuminate his mind, bewitching its god with the most dazzling and acrobatic performances. However, despite Slaanesh's indulgence, the mask ultimately became the most despised of all servants of the Prince of Joy. During the perennial strife and wars in the realm of Chaos between the Chaos Gods known as the Great Game, it came to Tzeentch who engaged Slaanesh in an unwinnable battle against Khorne and Nurgle - the ill-fated Wars of Provocation.
The Mask dances through the mortal worlds of the galaxy, capturing those who see it. Where mortals indulge their senses, where excess overcomes restraint, the mask seems to lead the unwary on a dance of doom. As mentioned above, the mask's behavior is eerily similar to that of the Aeldari Harlequins. This is not surprising as the Prince of Joy was born out of the collective hedonistic depravity of the Aeldari race. Causing Aeldari, particularly Harlequins, to dance themselves to death is one of the Mask's favorite pastimes.
The Harlequins have a performance that tells the story of how the mask once managed to infiltrate one of their troupes and cast a spell over both the troupe and the audience with its swirling magic. It wasn't until a solitaire appeared that the spell was finally broken; The only Aeldari able to masquerade as "She-Who-Thirs", the Solitaire was immune to the Mask's spell and could keep up move after move for six Terran days and nights until the Mask finally faltered and missed a step . Horrified by this failure, the mask fled and now seeks eternal revenge on the servants of Cegorach.
