T'au Empire Darkstrider

Sub-Commander Darkstrider, also known as El'Myamoto, is an unconventional T'au Pathfinder officer who has turned down several promotions to remain with his fellow Pathfinders. Darkstrider excels at attacking from unexpected angles and using every element of the battlefield to his advantage. Despite being disliked by many Tau commanders for his borderline insubordination - a trait unthinkable in the traditionalist ranks of the Fire Caste - Darkstrider always gets results. From Gal'yth and Nep'tan to the bloody fields of the Zeist campaign, he has led his warriors into the deadliest of situations, always returning them alive and victorious. Whatever the enemy, Darkstrider uses his structure analyzer and extensive battlefield experience to discover their hidden weaknesses, then coordinates a bold strike that will obliterate them completely. It's this talent for observation and improvisation, coupled with Darkstrider's obvious bravery, that has made him a favorite of O'Shaserra himself.

Despite his many exploits, there is something unsettling about Sub-Commander El'Myamoto. Although all members of the Fire Caste regard him as a cunning tactician and warrior to be reckoned with, his unconventional methods and disregard for proper protocol have caused much trouble and made many internal enemies.

It began when Myamoto, a T'au-born Shas'ui, passed his ordeal by fire. Disdaining the honor of donning a combat suit to join the Crisis Teams, he next offered him the opportunity to join the Stealth Teams - a formation known for their unorthodox methods. Again, Myamoto scoffed at this choice, preferring to return to the Pathfinder teams where he first served. Time and time again, Myamoto led his team into the deadliest of situations, but always escaped and brought glory to his squad. It was he who shut down the Necrons' strange mechanisms on the moons of Gal'yth, and he hunted the three-headed beast that terrorized the mining colonies of Neptane. During the Great Confederacy Wars, when the fierce leader was given the name Darkstrider, he infiltrated Orc encampments and used tracer lights to spot components of Gargants under construction.

It was his team that planted the homing beacon on Warlord Gruzzgut's mechanical armor. Yet for all his exploits, Darkstrider always spurned offers to command, preferring instead to lead raiding missions and terror attacks behind enemy lines.

Tradition is everything to the Fire Caste, and their observance of the Code of Fire requires above all respect for the Ethereal, military rank, and more experienced warriors. Through rejected promotions and subtle turns of phrase when speaking to his superiors, Myamoto regularly walks the fine line of insubordination - almost unheard of in the Fire Caste. Some Tau commanders refuse to cooperate with Darkstrider, claiming he refuses advice. Still others, most notably Shadowsun himself, appreciate Darkstrider's cunning tactics and apparent bravery. Armed with a prototype Structure Analyzer, Darkstrider has recently returned from his victories against the Space Marines in the Zeist campaign. He's not the armored battlesuit way, but his ability to bind more valuable powers and then sneak away has contributed to a string of victories that no one can deny.
