Stormcast Eternals Vindictors
The Celestial Vindicators are the embodiment of vengeance. Their hearts burn with a boundless enmity for chaos. To see them in combat is to see a hurricane of razor-sharp sigmarite lash the enemy until nothing is left alive, for these swordsmen value neither mercy nor restraint.
The Celestial Vindicators were forged not from those who begged Sigmar for salvation, but from those who demanded a chance at vengeance. Their close-knit brotherhoods are united in their burning hatred of Chaos, and none lay claim to a more earnest calling than the Warrior Chamber of Thostos Bladestorm. Its phalanxes are like natural disasters that have given shape; Once unleashed on the enemy, they will fight with great fury until every spark is drained from their bodies. Every warrior has a history of atrocities and madness in their past that drives them like a raging machine of destruction. Thosto's Vault, known as the Blade Storm, is treated with caution even by its allies. When the deadly wrath comes upon them, there is little that can stop their killing spree.[1a]
As mortals, each of the warriors who would become the Celestial Vindicators had prayed to Sigmar while still drenched in the enemy's blood. They did not pray to be saved, avenged, or brought to safety. Instead, they begged the higher powers to have enough strength to strike those who wronged them. They did not receive their retribution immediately, but were taken to heaven. Since that day, they have become part of something much greater - the raging typhoon of war that Sigmar unleashes on his enemies.
Sixth, the Celestial Vindicators are born in wrath. Uniquely, the Celestial Vindicators must pass through the towering Sturmdrang Gate during their Reforge. Braving the Black fire of this portal is an ordeal in itself, and only souls whose hatred burns with the heat of an Aqshian furnace can hope to survive. Many do not return. Those who make it will receive a measure of the holy fury that roared like a caged lion in the very heart of the god-king himself during the long wait.
By singing somber war songs, the Celestial Vindicators channel their anger. They focus on repeating the same chapters and verses out loud with those around them. In the heat of battle, however, their hatred spreads like wildfire that cannot be quenched, consuming all rational thought - it is said that a silent Celestial Vindicator is the most terrible of all, for they speak only through deeds.
The tightly knit brotherhoods of Vindicators are so united in their burning hatred of Chaos that their phalanxes attack like natural disasters taking shape. Once unleashed on the enemy, they usually advance regardless of a broader strategy, hacking down the enemy with great fury until every last spark is extinguished from their bodies. Oftentimes their anger leads to recklessness, allowing them to push themselves too deep into the enemy, but the intensity of that same anger can bring them back to full fighting.
The Lord-Celestants of the Celestial Vindicators believe that the best way to triumph over Chaos is with unbridled might. Always leading from the front, they use their armies as linebreakers to smash through the fiercest enemy battle lines so the broader hosts of Order can claim victory. Those who follow in their stead have often likened the sight before them to a cornfield being reaped by a thousand blades, each fallen stalk the hacked-up body of a warrior standing in front of them.
Each Celestial Vindicators Stormcast has a tale of horror and madness from their past that drives them ever further. This gives them incredible personality power - some Celestial Vindicators are said to melt copper with the intensity of their gaze. It also makes them single-minded and perhaps even blind, and those who have been extensively reforged fight like wrecking balls or battering rams rather than astute tacticians. The lessons of cooperation and patience taught them in the gladitorium are often lost through the sheer driving force of anger. Some say that they aspire to become living weapons, and that they worship a figure known as the Father of Blades - an impassive animus composed of the steel spirits of twelve ancient duardin rune swords, Sigmar's chosen chieftains long ago given aeons ago. Whatever the truth, her kinship with the blade is clear to all who see her. Many Celestial Vindicators wield a blade in each hand to help keep a high balance sheet.
