Space Marine Chaplain
A chaplain is a specialized officer of the Adeptus Astartes and serves as the appointed spiritual leader of a Space Marine Chapter.
Chaplains are the warrior-priests who tend to the spiritual and psychological well-being of their battle-brothers, instill in them the values ??and beliefs of the order, and encourage reverence, or in rarer cases actual worship, of the Emperor of Mankind.
Chaplains lead from the front lines as awe-inspiring warrior-priests, fighting wherever the enemy is fiercest, leading their brethren and glorifying the Emperor through the destruction of his enemies. Rejoicing in the glorious act of war, the chaplains exhort their brethren to ever greater acts of bravery and devotion.
In battle, the Chaplains will be at the forefront of the Order's battle lines, stirring up their fellow Space Marines through their words and deeds. Their power armor is Black and often features Imperial skull and crossbones iconography, most commonly in the form of a skull-shaped helm. Most chaplains wield an energy weapon in the form of a mace called a crozius arcanum. They are also endowed with an imperial sacred symbol known as the Rosarius.
Within a Space Marine Chapter, each company is assigned individual chaplains. Others, including the Reclusiarch, who looks after the chapter's sacred reclusiam, and the Master of Sanctity, who is the chief chaplain of a chapter, and an officer, whose rank is usually secondary only to that of the chapter master himself, operate independently of the command structure of the chapter any particular company.
A chaplain is fiercely loyal to his order and the Emperor, and works to instill a similar devotion in his fellow Astartes.
Chaplains are the true spiritual leaders of a Space Marine Chapter. They are formidable warrior-priests who administer the rites, uphold the rituals, and perform the ancient ceremonies of initiation, justification, and redemption that are as important to a Space Marine Chapter as its roll of honor or weapon proficiency.
Chaplains are intimidating Figures, even to other Space Marines. Her power armor is jet Black and adorned with icons of battle and symbols of ritual and mystery; Their skull helmets are death masks, reminiscent of the immortal emperor's stern visage.
Chaplains are notoriously strict people. Responsible for the spiritual and psychological well-being of their battle brothers, they are known for their unwavering sense of duty. Through doctrine, dogma, and catechism, they arm their fellow Space Marines against heresy and false pride, imparting the wisdom of both Primarch and Emperor to those who are their most trusted servants.
Each company in a Space Marine Chapter has its own chaplain. He acts as a leader in both devotion and combat, ranking only behind the company commander. The chaplains of an order are also the custodians of the Reclusiam, a sacred place overseen by the largest and most experienced of their number, the Master of Sanctity.
In battle, Chaplains are dark and foreboding Figures. A Space Marine Chaplain's armor is a frightening sight, adorned with icons of battle and death. Every aspect of a chaplain's garb evokes the transience of mortality, and thus the importance of preserving the immortal soul. They often wear variants of the standard Mark VI, Mark VII, Mark VIII, or even the new Mark X Power Armor.
A chaplain can appear stylized and archaic in their power armor compared to their Astartes counterparts, making them stand out and acting as a focus for their brethren in battle. Some or all of a chaplain's power armor is usually painted in traditional Black. Kaplan Novices typically wear standard Space Marine power armor. However, the helms, right shoulder plates, and right arms of their armor are painted black rather than the official colors of the Order.
The black shoulder plate replaces the previous Devout markings that were pictured there. Once declared a novice, the Space Marine's devotion needs no further promotion. Chaplains also often carry or use one or more primarch relics or gear to be carried or carried into battle. It is believed that something as trivial as a single gauntlet from a Chapter hero's armor would transmit a little of the primarch's bravery and faith to the chaplain.
