Description

Hitler was convinced of a short campaign when his German army rushed over the Russian border in 1941. Heroic defense by the massive Soviet armies slowed the Nazi advance. Brave, solid, and loyal, Soviet soldiers endured terrible combat conditions, and their Equipment was simple but functional, much like the troops themselves. What they lacked in quality, they made up for in the sheer numbers of troops and Equipment at their disposal – as Josef Stalin famously said: “Quantity has a quality all of its own.”

This Bolt Action Starter Army contains enough troops to create a sizable starter army for defending the motherland in the bitter winter that ravages the Eastern Front. Fierce fighting in Finland had taught the Red Army some hard lessons, with thousands of its men dying of frostbite. Warm and comfortable, often lined or quilted, the cold-weather gear issued later was much the envy of the German troops, who shivered in thin coats.
