Graveguard
The elite champions and housecarls of the Deathrattle Kingdoms, Bands of Grave Guard can be found wherever the Wight Kings stride. In their lifetime, each of these skeletal Praetorians was not only among the deadliest warriors in the service of their masters, but also among the most trusted. Many sacrifice their lives in service to their nation's rulers, or swear oaths of eternal service - pacts taken very literally in Shyish and those lands that feel its cold influence. Great tombs and enchanted burial mounds were built to house the remains of these honor-bound warriors; When their kings and emperors rose as undead wights, so did the Grave Guard. Still, they serve to protect their liege lords and carry out their will, and it is often the grave guard who form the immovable anchor of a Deathrattle battle line, whose ruthless skills have been honed through centuries of bitter warfare.
In life, the grave guards were often shown great favor by their lords, who bestowed on them the richest pleasures and noblest status as rewards for their service. In death, this favor is manifested in their superior gear of war: adorned with cruel enchantments, the Grave Guard's weapons and armor glow with an eerie light. Each cursed blade is capable of penetrating even runeforged Chaos armor with shocking ease, ripping out the wielder's soul and blasting them into the underworlds of Shyish. Tomb Wardens often retain more individuality than most Deathrattles, but only enough to carry out their duties and yield to their monarch's desire to remember the days they lived as mortals. Left to their own devices, they instead stand guard from the niches of their mausoleums and burial mounds, crushing intruders with clinical efficiency. So good is the grave guard as Seneschal that many Vampires choose to employ such warriors as well, and the walls of their dark strongholds are perpetually patrolled by bands of these ruthless guardians.
In life they were bestowed the richest pleasures and noblest status as rewards for their service, and in death that favor is manifested in their superior Equipment, weapons, and armor, adorned with cruel enchantments and glowing with an eerie light. Their blades, called Wight Blades, are cursed and enchanted, woven from the magic of darkness and despair, allowing them to pierce even runeforged armor of Chaos, each fatal blow severing the link between soul and body and blasting them into the underworlds by Shyish. One-handed Wight Blades are paired with Crypt Shields or two-handed Great Wight Blades. Her armor is ancient relic armor.
