Sorceress on Black Dragon

Sorceress are the most prominent magic users of Naggaroth. Some sorceresses ride into battle on the back of a black dragon.

Like all intelligent Creatures, dragons tend to do good or bad deeds, depending on their nature and upbringing. When Prince Malekith began his plans to usurp the throne of the Phoenix, his agents stole dragon eggs from the kingdom of Caledor and used them to create a new breed of dragons.

These dragons were secretly raised in Nagarythe by Malekith and enchanted with dark magic that would both corrupt and enhance the unborn dragons within. The fiercest Black Dragon from the first clutch was Sulekh, who became the Witch King's newest mount after losing his own dragon. Since Sulekh's death, her children have continued to live alongside the Dark Elves and have fought for them for many generations.

Black dragons are relatively similar in appearance to their pureblood cousins. However, they have lost the ability to emit flaming breath and have instead gained the ability to inhale a poisonous gas that can wither its victims' lungs and rot their flesh. Due to the excess of dark magic pulsing within their bodies, black dragons are notoriously stronger than their pureblood counterparts without the horrifying side effects of mutations common to most corrupted Creatures.
