Sorceress

Sorceresses are female Aelvenian mages who lead the Darkling Covens. Each Darkling Coven is ruled by a single, powerful sorceress, aided by multiple subordinates, apprentice sorcerers, captains, and major-domos, but ultimately she rules with unquestioned authority and cruel cunning. Though masters of shadow magic, sorceresses rarely venture onto the battlefield, preferring to weave their webs of intrigue behind the Scenes

Most of these powerful mages are content to manipulate through a web of spies and minions, but some relish the thrill and danger of outright conflict, and some are soulbound. Though often separated from compassion or empathy, they want neither Chaos nor the undead to conquer the Mortal Realms, and as such can be staunch warriors against either or both powers.

They are descended from the powerful sorceresses and wizard queens of the Elvish realms of the Ulgu Empire, and to a lesser extent Shyish, who were forced to take refuge in Azyrheim during the Age of Chaos and where they later founded their own covens.

Many sorceresses have also maintained close ties to the Order of Serpentis since the Age of Myth, when sorceresses helped create the first black dragons. Thus, sorceresses can ride these beasts into battle and hurl magical bombardments while their dragonsteeds attack with claws and poisonous fumes.

With the skill born of generations of study, sorceresses unleash witchfires and bolts of eldritch energy that can cause enemy forces to spew or intone blasphemous words of pain, phrases in tongues long forgotten, shattering waves of agony on the victims inflict If necessary, they will not hesitate to ritually slaughter their own warriors to strengthen their spells. Notable spells include Word of Pain and Bladewind.

They are famous for their supernatural charisma, they are able to bend others to their will and bewitch them under their absolute control. Even Stormcast Eternals and supernatural entities are not immune to their abilities.

They often carry a witch's wand into battle. When riding a Black Dragon, they instead carry a Darkling sword or witch's rod alongside a witch's whip. Sorceresses always carry a dagger, which they can use to sacrifice their allies for magical powers.
