Adrax Agatone, nicknamed "Nocturne's Hammer", is the captain of the 3rd Company of Salamanders, "The Pyroclasts", and the master of the Salamander Order's arsenal.

Sometime after the birth of the Great Rift, Agatone underwent the agonizing surgical procedure known as the Rubicon Primaris and rose through the ranks to become a Primaris Space Marine.

The process of ascension resulted in all of Agatone's old trademark scars fading and being replaced with smooth new tissue, erasing all trace of his deeds for the Order as a firstborn Space Marine.

Agatone found this fitting as he felt the process really made him want to be reincarnated. He felt that his skin should also reflect this new beginning.

Early in Agatone's career he was a sergeant in the 3rd Company of Salamanders. He was among the squads accompanying the 3rd Company's expedition into the world of Scoria and witnessed the confusing and turbulent events of that campaign against the Orcs, the Dragon Warriors and the Iron Warriors, which claimed two of his company captains.

After the deaths of Captain Kotan Kadai and Captain N'keln at the hands of the traitors, Agatone rose to command as the third highest ranking member of the company.

He later took part in the campaign against the Cabal trying to capture his company and routed them with the help of Vulkan He'stan. His company was also present during the Dragon War that followed, when former Salamander Librarian Nihilan led tens of thousands of aliens, Mercenaries, traitors, and a third of a company of Obliterator-infected Marines Malevolent to steal the Tome of Fire from the vault below Mount Deathfire on Nocturne.

Adrax Agatone is a contradiction of transhuman flesh and bone. In some respects, the captain of the 3rd Company was said to be the most like his gene father, Vulcan, in centuries.

Stable and deliberate even when the most steadfast of his comrades stagger toward Wrath or Alarm, he is relentlessly ferocious in pursuit of his enemies. Agatone is also as skilled a craftsman as any of Vulcan's heirs, working with the same quiet but abiding pride that shows in his demeanor as a warrior and Space Marine captain.

Adrax Agatone is the anvil on which the enemies of the salamanders break. Where he holds the line, the Salamanders fight with unstoppable determination. Agatone's cloak of Arridian dragonskin protects him from all but the most powerful weapons while he burns them with Drakkis - his master hand flamethrower - and delivers thundering blows with his thunderhammer Malleus Noctum.
