Techmarines are not only battle brothers to their Space Marines, but also serve as mechanics and technicians for their respective Chapters, much like the Engineers who serve in the Imperial Guard. Techmarines specialize in repairing tanks and war machines. So if you prefer armored warfare, never leave home without a Techmarine or two to keep them in tip-top shape!
This kit builds a Primaris Techmarine. He is armed with a grav-pistol, Omnissic Power-Axe, servo-arm, mechadendrite, and a shoulder-mounted forge-bolter. It is supplied as 24 plastic components and is supplied with a Citadel 40mm Round base.
In addition to their engineering duties, Techmarines are often the pilots of Space Marine gunships and aircraft.
Space Marine Chapters identify potential Techmarines within their own companies, favoring those who show the greatest affinity for machines. These aspirants are then sent to Mars for a thirty-year apprenticeship, where they are taught the lore of the machine god, how to guess the runes of engineering, and the liturgy of maintenance. This vast body of lore must be fully understood and remembered by the novice Techmarine. A large part of the thirty years of teaching is memorizing each of the many and complicated nursing rituals and hymns. The rituals also have variations to cover every possible circumstance in combat. A full-fledged Techmarine is expected to be able to "feel" the pain of a damaged machine and heal it. Upon completion of training, the Techmarine is ordained and returns to his order. Techmarines pledge allegiance to both the Cult Mechanicus and their order, making them something of an oddity among their battle-brothers. [citation needed] The highest position among the Techmarines is held by the Master Forge.
A Techmarine's power armor is modified to accommodate their cybernetic enhancements, and their armor's backpack is also upgraded with multiple servo arms and mechadendrites. His armor bears the rusty red colors of the Adeptus Mechanicus, but his Chapter insignia is retained and displayed on one of the pauldrons in order not to disregard the armor's spirit. Techmarines can carry full servo harnesses, giant harnesses with servo arms, forge bolters, plasma cutters, and flamethrowers. They commonly use a grav pistol as a sidearm. Techmarines can also be accompanied by a retinue of Servitors; Gun Servitors, Combat Servitors, and Tech Servitors. Her usual weapon is an Omnissian Power Ax with the Adeptus Mechanicus symbol on its head, both as a rank symbol and as a weapon.
Many Chaos Obliterators are said to have been the former Techmarines of the Traitor Legions.
