Primaris Ancient

An Ancient, also known as a Standard Bearer, is a hand-picked veteran of a Space Marine Chapter who has been chosen to carry the sacred battle standards of that Chapter or one of its individual companies, and is typically part of that Chapter's or company's honor guard. These battle standards are perhaps the most revered artifacts in an order.

Each standard has flown proudly over hundreds of battlefields, and every Battle-Brother will understand the precise nuance and reference woven into their intricate designs. The standard bearers are chosen specifically for their bravery and steadfastness. They are also more than capable warriors who should not be discounted when judging the combat prowess of the Order.

A standard bearer is a badge of honor dating back to the past standard bearers of the legion of the ancient Legiones Astartes. These specially chosen individuals were accomplished warriors, chosen for the honor of bearing one of the Legion's great standards, making them a rallying point on the battlefield for Legion troops. Members of the Legion Command Squads, these chosen Space Marines had access to the finest Equipment available to the Space Marine Legion base and embodied the Legion's honor at war.

The banner an Ancient carries is as individual as the Order itself, and there are few rules in its design. The Codex Astartes limits its commentary on the banner of the Order to simply saying that the standard should bear the colors and symbol of the Order and display such honors as the Chapter Master deems worthy. A Battle-Brother in the Order's Honor Guard may have the honor of carrying their Order's banner into battle. This is a sacred task, carried out with great dignity and seriousness. Whether providing a rallying point for warriors fighting around him or rushing to defiantly raise the standard atop a contested elevation and claiming the battlefield for his order in the process, the Ancient serves to inspire those around him.

One of the most common specialists to fight alongside company veterans in a commando is Company Ancient. These warriors carry the revered battle flag of the company in which they serve.

This model includes a choice of helmeted and bare heads, as well as two different banners with sculpted details and a choice of bolt rifle or power sword. The kit comes as 22 plastic components with which to make 1 model, and is supplied with a Citadel 40mm Round base.
