Roboute Guilliman Primarch of the Ultramarines
Roboute Guilliman is the primarch of the Ultramarines. An accomplished warlord and diplomat who ruled his own empire before it was rediscovered by the Emperor, Guilliman was unique among his brothers, the Primarchs, in that he saw himself not only as a warrior but also as a builder of civilizations. In addition to his leadership of the largest legion of Space Marines during the Great Crusade, Guilliman became famous for his efforts to preserve the Empire after the devastating Horus Heresy and became the Empire's Lord Commander. Among his most notable achievements are the writing of the Codex Astartes and the creation of the modern Imperial military structure.
Shortly after the Thirteenth Black Crusade, Roboute Guilliman was healed of his wounds and once again leads the Empire as Lord Commander and Imperial Regent, the living voice of the Emperor.
Shortly after the Thirteenth Black Crusade from Abaddon the Corruptor and the destruction of Cadia, Tech-Priest Belisarius Cawl and Saint Celestine led a group of Imperial survivors into the Webway with the help of their new Eldar allies. The group arrived at Macragge, where Cawl revealed that he had indeed lived the last ten thousand years and was instructed by Guilliman himself to do two jobs in the event of his downfall. One of these was the resurrection of Guilliman, a feat Cawl was now able to accomplish with the help of the Eldar. With a Power Armor that regenerated the wounds inflicted by Fulgrim, Guilliman was restored when Black Legion forces invaded Macragge. Guilliman, reborn, quickly drove off the invaders of Chaos before absorbing the truths of the Empire after a ten thousand year absence. Guilliman exhibited several "miracles" upon his rebirth, his mere presence being able to cure anyone curing from a blinding disease caused by the Nurgle.
Disgusted with the decay, superstition, and ignorance that surrounds the modern Empire, Guilliman called a war council of his Ultramarines to decide what to do next. After a few days, he declared his intention to travel to Terra and see his father on the Golden Throne. However, Guilliman's resurrection had drawn the gaze of the Gods of Chaos and the Daemon Primarchs, and had the Warp in turmoil. The journey to Terra, known as the Terran Crusade, became an arduous affair with his fleet trapped in the Maelstrom after an ambush by Magnus and his Thousand Sons. Inside the Maelstrom, the Imperial Expedition was defeated by Kairos Fateweaver and the Red Corsairs, with the Primarch himself trapped in crystal chains created from his own doubts. The Imperial expedition, being held in a Blackstone fortress by Kairos, seemed doomed. However, thanks to the efforts of the harlequin Sylandri Veilwalker and the fallen angel Cypher Guilliman and the rest of the surviving expedition, they were freed and escaped to a Webway portal. Guilliman held the portal long enough for his men to escape and defeated the Bloodthirster Skarbrand after witnessing the sacrifice of Marshal Amalric.
The Imperial Expedition eventually arrived on Luna through a different portal, but this time Magnus and his Thousand Sons followed. On the surface of Luna, Magnus and Guilliman dueled while the battle raged around them. Guilliman was overwhelmed by Magnus' psychic abilities until reinforcements arrived from Terra that included Sisters of Silence. With Magnus' psychic abilities weakened, Guilliman was able to impale his demonic brother and force him back into the Webway as the gate was sealed.
It is known that at the height of his power during the Horus Heresy, Guilliman was armed with the Hand of Dominion - a powerful gauntlet capable of overthrowing a titan, the Gladius Incandor, with Guilliman's strength - a blade of exceptional craftsmanship and a symbol but his legion and also - with an arbitrator, a custom-made combination bolter. For protection, Guilliman wore a power armor known as the Armor of Sanity.
After his resurrection at the end of the 41st Millennium, Guilliman continued to use the Hand of Dominion but took up the Emperor's sword as his main weapon. In addition, he now wears the Armor of Destiny, the very device that allowed him to heal the injuries Fulgrim sustained ten thousand years ago.
