Ossuary was not always a demon, let alone a lord. In his former life, under a forgotten and insignificant name, he was once a mortal of no consequence. Spineless by nature or upbringing, he spent his childhood and youth as a victim of relentless violence that shattered both his spirit and his bones. One fateful day, the primal instinct buried deep within the human mind chose survival, and he lashed out wildly at one of his tormentors. His fist connected, a tooth was knocked loose, and blood was spilled. Though he was viciously beaten afterward, something had changed: the key had turned in the lock. He realized he was capable of violence.

He didn’t need skill—just the reptilian instinct to take over. And it did, more and more frequently. He broke teeth, bit off flesh, and gouged out eyes, until his reputation as a madman finally earned him peace. They left him alone, but by then it was too late. Ossuary craved violence; he needed to be provoked, to let the reptile inside him take control and collect his grisly trophies.

At first, he kept the teeth, bits of flesh, and the occasional eye, but all that was not bone eventually decayed. Still, he had his teeth, but they were so very small. Unsatisfied, he began to provoke violence on his own, seeking larger trophies. Then came the ultimate revelation: murder. It brought greater pleasure, and bigger bones to add to his growing collection.

With each sin, each bone added to his gruesome collection, the gates of Hell opened wider for the man who would become Ossuary. Upon his death, Hell welcomed him, and within its fiery crucible, his collected bones were reshaped into a new, horrific form. Delighted by the endless violence on the Hellish Plains, Ossuary found new trophies to collect—spines, horns, wings—and with each one, he gained more power.
