Plaguebearer of Nurgle
Unlike other Demons, who are born from a tiny portion of a Chaos God's power that splits into a separate being, Plaguebearers are born from the energy of mortal souls that succumb to Nurgle's rot.
These demons have lanky, bony limbs, their bodies so swollen with decay that tears in their skin reveal glistening entrails. Possessing a single Cyclopean eye and horn rising above their gaunt, sunken faces, their bodies are covered in filth and parasites. Despite the Plaguebearer's unusual appearance, they are supernaturally resistant to damage, as their master's gifts have trained them to resist all pain. Constantly surrounded by clouds of booming flies, Plaguebearers sing monotonous hymns, walking at a breathtaking gallop.
Plaguebearers wield rusted, heavy blades known as Plague Swords. These weapons are infused with foul infections and toxins that can turn the tiniest scratch deadly. Others are armed with an Instrument of Chaos or a Plague Banner. These demons are serious, ferociously efficient warriors in battle. Despite their sickly appearance, Plaguebearers pose a deadly threat to anyone they encounter, as their otherworldly toughness allows them to endure most attacks with ease.
They also serve as Nurgle's tallymen, eternally bound to record all of their dark god's pestilence creations. Many believe that plague carriers are actually created by such diseases, breeding within plague victims and feeding on their dying energies, only to later emerge entirely from their heaped bodies. Their sonorous voices attempt to count the number of noxious plagues unleashed by Nurgle; an impossible task, because the grandfather of plagues is constantly inventing new virus strains. Mortals who hear these cursed chants can often become ill.
A notable source for Plaguebearers is the demon world of Bubonicus
Champions of Plaguebearers are called Plagueriddens.
