Manca is known as the Golden Lord for commanding the infamous Golden Horde—legions of demons clad in gleaming golden armor or rampaging bare-skinned, adorned with extravagant jewelry ill-suited for the battlefield. The name draws curiosity, possibly alluding to a connection with the Zolotaja Orda of mortal history, hinting at Manca’s origins in the human realms.

Then there is her name, Manca, a mortal word meaning crippled or maimed, a curious title for a demon that seems far from lacking in any respect—let alone one of the Infernal Lords. It could also be a clever play on another mortal word meaning gold coin, perhaps further suggesting a mortal origin.

Rumors once circulated about a demon child, born true to one of the lords but maimed in the infernal womb, born without arms or legs and discarded to the blood-soaked mud of the Pit. But someone saved the child, forging limbs of demonic gold and raising it to be a weapon against the lords. Even wilder rumors claimed the one who saved Manca was a powerful demon smith, whose face now adorns her shield—stretched and animated across the bone of his own sternum.

These rumors are no longer whispered. Every mouth that dared speak them was silenced in brutal fashion, and the face on the shield remains silent, save for the occasional roar of rage and betrayal.
