Land Raider Crusader / Land Raider Redeemer
The Land Raider Crusader is a variant of the standard Land Raider Phobos used by the Space Marines and Inquisition. The Land Raider Crusader is upgraded to support short-range Astartes offensives with anti-infantry attacks. The Land Raider Crusader was originally developed as a variant of the standard Land Raider Main Battle Tank by the Black Templar Chapter, but was eventually approved by the Adeptus Mechanicus as an authorized design for all Astartes Chapters, in no small part due to its use by the Ultramarines Chapters.
The Land Raider Crusader is intended to be an attack-based variant of the Land Raider, which is a linebreaker like no other. The Crusader can breach enemy formations and deflect small arms fire to drop a squad of Space Marines into the enemy's heart.
Instead of laser cannons, the Crusader is armed with Hurricane Bolters, which take down the first line of defenders before launching an attack.
A hull-mounted twin assault cannon contributes to its impressive anti-infantry firepower, and its frag assault launchers suppress the enemy as the tank closes. bulky laser generators.
It was originally designed by the Black Templar Artificer Simagus during the Jerulas Crusade in 645.M39, using ancient techno-arcana in the long-forgotten depths of a captured hive city. As stories of the successes of this variant of Land Raider spread, many other Chapters began requesting information about its design.
The Tech-Priests of Mars officially recognized the Land Raider's Crusader pattern in 763.M39 and ensured its survival, although this was only a formality as the design had already spread to hundreds of Chapters.
The Crusader differs from more common Land Raider patterns in a number of ways. Both sponsors replace the standard Lascannon configuration with Hurricane bolters - six bolters attached to a single mount. Associated with this is a dual-barreled assault cannon in place of the hull-mounted heavy bolters to provide an impressive level of suppressive firepower as the Crusader closes in on its target.
The final addition is a conversion of the standard Pintle-Mount turret ring to allow the mounting of a Multi-Melta. The Multi-Melta was not featured in the first Land Raider Crusaders, but hard-fought experience taught the Black Templars that the Land Raider often required heavy firepower to force breaches in defenses and clear barricades or anti-tank obstacles when breaking through a position.
The other main customization related to the Crusader is its increased transport capacity. The removal of the large generators required for the laser cannon frees up space for an additional six Space Marines. This gives the Crusader the largest transport capacity of any Land Raider variant - sixteen Power Armored Space Marines or eight Terminators.
The Land Raider Crusader is crewed by three Space Marines and has its own machine mind (artificial intelligence). The Crusader features an additional unique upgrade in the form of Frag Assault Launchers located on either side of the front entry/exit ramp. These are designed to fire shrapnel at an entrenched enemy to assist the transported unit's attack if it exits the vehicle.
This vehicle's primary role in combat is to serve as an armored fast assault tank, capable of launching attacks into the heart of enemy formations, where it can withstand heavy punishment and deal more than its fair share of damage to both infantry and tanks. The Land Raider Crusader can also be outfitted with a Dozer Blade, a Hunter-Killer Missile Launcher, a Pintle-Mounted Storm Bolter in addition to its Pintle-Mounted Multi-Melta, a Searchlight, and Smoke Launchers.
Like all powerful Space Marine tanks, the Land Raider Crusader has incredibly solid armor on all sides - it comes with metal plates, hatches, rivets and searchlights. Showcasing an explosive arsenal of weapons including a two-barreled assault cannon, frag launchers and hurricane bolter sponsons, the kit also includes a multi-melter and two flaming cannons to customize your vehicle with.
