Grundstok Thunderers
The Grundstok Thunderers are militarized formations deployed by the fleet to defend it. The endless training and drills conducted by the Grundstok Academies induces a high level of discipline and marksmanship in their graduates - at the command of their officer, the Basic Captain, they march, turn and set their target with breathtaking speed and precision. A near-synchro-firing array of Grundstok Thunderers momentarily vanishes between eye-searing bolts of lightning and weapon blasts as they unleash an ammo storm capable of stopping even the most heavily armored foe.
The Grundstok Company spares no expense in outfitting their warriors, and each is equipped with the finest weapons and armor available to the Kharadron Overlords. Firing a hypercharged blast of aether that compacts into a solid ball in mid-flight, Aethershot rifles combine a high rate of fire with impressive stopping power. The Aether Cannon works on a similar principle, but is a more powerful model that fires bullets of a much larger caliber. Meanwhile, the Fumigator emits a cloud of noxious fumes, while the Decksweeper fires a wide stream of Aethergrain Shot, ideal for repelling enemy boarding attacks. The Grundstok Mortar throws a high arcing grenade that ends in a blinding blast of deadly Aetheric energies.
Grundstok Thunderer formations often include an honor bearer, a warrior who carries an ancestral standard that documents the unit's proud history. In addition, it is a tradition for units to be accompanied by an aethermatic bird known as the Borebill, in honor of the original drawn into battle by Grundstok himself.
Transported aboard an Arkanaut Frigate or Ironclad, Grundstok Thunderers provide an invaluable reserve that can be quickly deployed to wherever it is needed. The military history of Kharadron is filled with tales of Thunderers, arriving at the last moment to solidify a battle line or pushing back an attacking enemy, and at the end of the battle standing alone surrounded by a circle of fallen enemies.
Optionally you can build a Gunnery Sergeant and a Medal Bearer, the Gunnery Sergeant carries a special double-barreled Aethershot Rifle. The Honor bearer has a capstone on his suit's power module.
