Institute: Synths

Enter the world of the Institute and witness the might of their robotic army. The core of the Institute's forces are the Gen-1 and Gen-2 Synths, robots built to mimic human form, but with bare metal and skeletal structures that make them no less deadly. They are deployed to defend strongholds and facilities of interest to the Institute, attacking in large groups to overwhelm and devastate their foes.

The Gen-1 Synths are the first prototypes the Institute created to copy basic human skeletons and structures. Designed to be radiation-proof and combat-ready, these robotic androids continue to fight even when their limbs are removed. Only complete destruction of the processors and torso are enough to stop them, but even then, they can often be salvaged and repaired, ready to fight again.

The Gen-2 Synths, on the other hand, are the Institute's first attempt at full human mimicry. Clad in plastic approximations of human flesh, they are hardier than their Gen-1 antecedents and more tactically aware. While Gen-1s often throw themselves at an enemy, heedless of the cost to themselves, Gen-2s are cannier, more likely to evaluate the target first. But don't be fooled, when necessary, they will still run headlong into a fight to serve the Institute's purposes, as long as the target is neutralised.
