Eidolon of Mathann
Deified echoes of a bygone era, the Eidolons of Mathlannare were brought to life in times of dire need. However, these are not divine avatars, but collective manifestations of the ancestral souls of the Idoneth Deepkin, spirits of vengeance cloaked in the image of a lost elven god.
The Aether Sea ripples, and a thousand points of silver light appear in a flash. Like a school of pelagic fish forming a baitball, the shimmering needle tips move, shift, reposition, and eventually merge into a single aelf-like form. There hovers above the ground the greatest weapon of the Idoneth Deepkin - an eidolon of Mathlann, seemingly a gleaming incarnation of the ancient Elvish sea god.
Eidolons of Mathlann are spirit beings, apparitions summoned by the Idoneth Deepkin. It was Mathlann that the predecessors of the Idoneth worshiped, yet it is no spark of the divine that creates the eidolons, for Mathlann is dead. The god of the deeps was slain by Slaanesh even as he tried to protect the souls that one One day into which Idoneth would be reformed. The supernatural power of the eidolons derives not from a deity, but from energies from the Idoneth's past.
The Idoneth fear that Slaanesh could reclaim their souls if they die. Therefore, as their physical shells decay, their spirits are interred in a living coral reef or chorileum. Each enclave guards at least one of these reefs, with the oldest factions harboring the souls of the awakened. In times of need, the leaders of the enclave sanction the disturbance of the dead, and so an eidolon is summoned.
Eidolons are formed from the combined energies of all those souls that can be awakened from an enclave's chorileum. Each deceased aelf emits only a portion of its spirit, a tiny beacon of its own willpower visible only to the Idoneth or those with witch-sight. Held together by needs, the spirits form a consciousness form, a tangible embodiment of ancestral memories. It is an instinctive force that aids the Idoneth Deepkin or acts against their enemies. There are two distinct incarnations in which an Eidolon could be summoned by Mathlann, each benefiting from a very different facet of Idoneth Deepkin's environment and collective psyche.
This kit allows you to build Eidolon in either his Aspect of the Storm or Aspect of the Sea guise. He is armed with a Fuathar, a spear of suppressed anger, and a Crulhook
The kit comes as 51 components, and is supplied with a Citadel 100mm Round Base. It can alternatively be assembled into an Eidolon of Mathlann - Aspect of the Sea.
