High King Volturnos

Volturno's High King of the Deep / Akhelian King

He was the first of his kind and is the last living Cythai. All Ionrachbow before him, their only recognized leader, the eldest and greatest of their people. He is Volturnos, High King of the Deep, and he has undisputed authority in the assemblies of the Idoneth.

The greatest warrior of the Idoneth still leads his people, a position he earned during the Age of Myth. Volturnos once stood before the blinding light of Teclis himself and received firsthand the Eolas, the great gift of learning and magic bestowed by the god on the newly created aelves.

Unlike many, Volturnos survived the Light of Truth from Teclis and fled Hysh with his comrades. By founding the capital of Ionrach, Príom, Volturnos was already building a reputation as a warrior and leader. He eventually won his kingship through his actions at the Battle of the Flotsam Isles, where he was instrumental in the destruction of several greenskin fleets.

During these times, as the Idoneth continued to expand their territories, the awakened died one by one. Although long-lived, they gradually died in battle or fell prey to sea monsters. A few succumbed to old age, their souls carefully preserved in the chorileen. But Volturnos lived on, growing wiser and more cunning, while his taciturn nature and calculating mind made him an ideal commander.

According to legend, Volturnos was the very first soul saved and restored by Teclis. He was to be the archetype of a new race - noble, scholarly, and beautiful to behold. Not all Idoneth enclaves believe such tales, and some of the more recalcitrant factions, notably the Dhom-hain and Fuethán, openly doubt them. They respect Volturnos as a famous Akhelian king, but no more. However, the Ionrach and their many branches worship their High King by holding a memorial day for the ambush at the Sea of ??Umbral and remembering the duel in which he lost his eye. The Nautilar tell the tale of how Volturnos led an Ionrachled coalition to break the siege of Grystleback, the greatest threat that ever plagued their great city. To the Briomdar, he is the avenger, having aided them in the past by punishing those who inflicted heavy casualties on the enclave.
With this kit you can build Volturno's High King of the Deep. In his right hand he wields Astra Solus, a dangerous-looking serrated blade, and in his left, Cealith, the High King's shield.

His mount, Uasall, is a famous Deepmare—a huge, scaled creature with forelegs ending in large paws and abdomen forking into three powerful tails, distinguished from other Deepmares by its larger horn. An Aelf waystone is included as an atmospheric adornment to the base.

The kit comes as 45 components, and is supplied with a Citadel 60mm Round Base.
