The Hellhammer is an Astra Militarum super-heavy tank that is a variant of the infamous Baneblade tank. The Hellhammer replaces the Baneblade's missile-launched Mega Cannon or Baneblade Cannon with a Hellhammer Cannon, a variant of the Battle Cannon commonly found on the Leman Russ Main Battle Tank. It has a shorter barrel with built-in extra-thick silencers, allowing it to fire extremely large caliber shells without ripping itself apart. These shells are designed to destroy armor and positions with an unstable subatomic charge.

The Hellhammer was designed to improve the performance of the standard Baneblade against heavily armored targets. The Tech-Priests of Mars removed the default Mega Battle Cannon and installed the shorter but more powerful Hellhammer Cannon. A larger version of the Leman Russ Eradicator's cannon, the Hellhammer cannon fires massive shells whose unstable sub-atomic charge can shred armor and fortifications like paper, wiping out any infantry trying to protect themselves inside with a single shot. The lack of range that plagued the Hellhammer cannon was an acceptable compromise for the additional destructive capacity, and the design was finalized, blessed, standardized, and mass-produced by the Adeptus Mechanicus.

On the battlefield, the Hellhammer's role is either that of a close support tank or an urban warfare tank. Its Hellhammer Cannon and hull-mounted Demolisher Cannon make short work of any armor or fortifications, while its secondary armament of two laser cannons and three double-linked heavy bolters allows it to mop up anything that escaped the devastation of its main armament. When configured for urban assault, it swaps two double-linked heavy bolters for heavy flamethrowers, allowing the Hellhammer to flush infantry from fortifications too weak to warrant a main battery blast. The Hellhammer also works well as a close-range armor hunter; Its main guns are only maxed out at medium range, but their sheer destructive power allows them to easily take down anything smaller than a Titan. In situations where range is short and fields of fire limited, the Hellhammer is brutally uncompromising when it comes to unleashing fiery destruction upon humanity's enemies.

Like its parent tank and all of its variants, the Hellhammer suffers from poor top speed and maneuverability. Its enormous size is both a curse and a blessing: while it allows the Hellhammer to plow through and flatten many obstacles, it will also deny it passage in many situations. Hellhammer crews must be specially trained to recognize and avoid pitfalls that would cause their tank to become stuck or lose track with catastrophic consequences. Additionally, due to the short range of its weapons and its slow speed, a Hellhammer is almost useless when fighting enemy armor in the open air. His size makes him an easy target to hit at long range, and makes him vulnerable, with no weapons able to reply to him in kind, nor the speed needed to close the gap to the target in time.

This multi-part plastic kit contains 295 components with which to assemble a Baneblade, Banehammer, Banesword, Doomhammer, Shadowsword, Stormlord or Stormsword super-heavy tank in place of a Hellhammer. Also included is 1 Astra Militarum vehicle decal sheet which can be used to apply markings and Badges.
