A Jackal Alphus is a Genestealer hybrid sniper that rides into battle on a dirtcycle with fast attacks and leads groups of Atalan Jackals.

The undisputed leaders of the Atalan jackal packs are not only the deadliest and swiftest of their kind, but also the steeliest of nerves, capable of displaying a prowess comparable to that of Imperial assassins. Similar to regular jackals, an Alphus' primary function is to gather information about the enemy and explore new locations for a cult. They are also masters at spotting spots perfect for future ambushes or covert attacks. Although a pack leader, an Alphus is fairly content working alone and can therefore often escape a dedicated air scout network. Although they travel primarily at night to avoid attention, the Alphus can ride uncomplainingly under a heated, bright sun for weeks. Their hybrid physiology gives them endurance far in excess of that of a normal human, and their eyesight is unmatched, making them excellent sharpshooters. Their eyesight is also good for scouting, and it's not uncommon for a cult Nexos to have hundreds of Alphus cards in their possession.

When a jackal Alphus reunites with its pack to take down larger prey, they lead their mates in a manner similar to an animalistic pack leader in pursuit of prey. They stay out of an enemy's reach and stab and slash at the enemy's weaker points, fighting with subterfuge rather than brute force until the enemy gradually becomes completely immobilized. This process can take hours or even days, but jackals are relentless and never interrupt their operations. Jackals are excellent battlefield analysts, operating on the front line to take out key enemy leaders with their sniper rifles, or calling in support and priority kill orders should the enemy be too large for them to face alone. A single set of orders and coordinates from these leaders can bring down a Space Marine Captain or an Ork Warboss.
