Hearthguard Berserkers
Berserkers are the wrath of the Rune Father unleashed on his enemies. The Anointed of Grimnir take their Molten Sacrament from the Forge Temple. Filled with fiery determination, they charge headfirst into battle, a roaring war cry on their lips and a fyresteel ax in hand.
Hearthguard Berserkers are the Lodge's elite warriors, proven in battle under the Runefather's fiery gaze. When the Fyreslayers sound their warhorns, it is the Hearthguard's berserker Fyrds who answer their call first, eager to unleash their fury on their foes. This duty is entrusted to them by their master, and they hold to it as tightly as the two-handed Fyresteel Weapons they wield.
Every Hearthguard Berserker is a stubborn and unrelenting warrior. Their thick skin glistens with primordial gold runes as they fight, flames play across their muscles and fill their eyes with heartbreaking fury. Against head-high foes, Hearthguard Berserkers favor the Flamestrike Poleaxe - a deadly weapon of ancient design that features a heavy chain with a flanged brazier of roaring forge fires. As the Hearth Warden dismembers his foes with the ax blade, the brazier whips from the pressure of combat, breaking bones and setting flesh aflame.
Against foes of more monstrous proportions, the Hearthguard Berserkers unload their Berserker Broadaxes. These massive blades are perfect for piercing the chest of a fully armored Chaos Knight or hacking through the limbs of a rampaging Ogor. Despite the size and weight of these Weapons, the Hearthguard wields them as if they were deadly extensions of its own body.
The Hearthguard Berserkers have the honor of protecting the Rune Father and his sons in battle. Before the battle, the Karl leads his Hearthguard to swear their oaths of the Lodge again before the face of Grimnir. For these fearsome warriors, protecting the Rune Father is tantamount to defending their god. It's no wonder, then, that when overwhelming odds threaten the Patriarch of the Lodge and his heirs, the Hearthguard are happy to fight to the death to defend them.
Some units wield powerful Berserker Broadaxes, while others wield Flamestrike Poleaxes that pull smoldering braziers on long chains. Some units also carry Fyresteel Throwing Axes.
