Biologus Putrifier
"There is no better laboratory than the battlefield. Such an abundance of test subjects, their flesh and vitae just waiting for the touch of Nurgle's gifts to blossom into new and magnificent fertility. With every pinprick, every crisp shattering of the still, their blessed suffering brings my concoctions closer to perfection."
- Fesmus Gulgroth, Biologus Putrifier
A Biologus Putrifier is a Chaos Space Marine specialist found exclusively within the ranks of the Death Guard's Traitor Legion. These individuals are driven by an obsessive desire to test their concocted plague batches to perfection, for it is the Death Guard's desire to spread the decaying gifts of Grandfather Nurgle to every corner of the galaxy.
Biologus Putrifiers play a very active role in spreading disease on the battlefield, throwing plague grenades or using their cursed injection guns to spread their epidemics far and wide among the ranks of their enemies while receiving the virulent blessings of the Plague God.
The great work of the Death Guard is to spread Nurgle's generous gifts to every corner of Realspace. The Biologus Putrifiers play a crucial role in this process, for it is they who refine the batches of diseased slurry brewed by the Foul Blightspawn and distil them to the highest potency.
Biologus Putrifiers carry a unique mutation: lidless, milky eyes that grow like cysts hidden beneath their flesh. Known as "Occulobes", the gaze of these foul orbs can pierce armour, flesh and bone to perceive every nuance of the spread of infection through a living body. Decomposers croak their observations to scurrying servants and frolicking demonic scribes, filling tomes of rotting parchment with forbidden knowledge.
Driven by an obsessive desire to test their plague batches to perfection, Biologus Putrifiers take a very active role in spreading disease on the battlefield. From their backs dangle racks of plague grenades, chock-full of the latest strains of noxious plagues to emerge from the disease factories. Stinking slime drips from the heads of the dead. Brittle glass stills bubble with bubbling liquids and strong gases. With every movement, these vials and vessels clink and clang against each other, threatening to shatter and spill their poisonous contents. As the fury of battle rages around them, the Putrifiers urge their brother Plague Marines to pluck the Blight Granades from their shelves like rotten fruit and hurl them into the enemy ranks.
This multi-part plastic kit contains the components needed to build a Biologus Putrifier. He's dressed in the usual blighted, rusting Deathguard armour, with plenty of Nurgle symbolism and sinisterly protruding tentacles that you'd expect (as well as scorch marks and melting plates, possibly due to the corrosive potions he's experimenting with) - but The standout feature is the huge rack of Blight grenades hanging from his back, covered with a dozen or more plague-filled explosive containers ripe for the picking. He carries a hypodermic pistol, which he displays when reloaded with a vial of some unpleasant concoction; one tentacle also grips a plague knife. Even the breathing apparatus on his helmet features a proboscis-like protrusion - all the better to capture the results of his experiments.
This kit consists of 10 components and comes with a Citadel round base (40 mm).
