Morathi
Morathi is a goddess of the Mortal Realms. Prior to her apotheosis, she was known as the Grand Matriarch and High Oracle of the Daughters of Khaine, a cult worshiping the dead god Khaine. In the Mortal Realms, she is known as the mother of the Daughters of Khaine, a former member of the Order pantheon created by Sigmar. Secretly, she was also part of the other elven gods' plan to capture and imprison Slaanesh and reclaim the elven souls that the god of abundance had consumed.
Morathi is a character from the world-that-was, and even in that world she was ancient, a devious queen who played a crucial role in the division that in turn shaped the entire history of the elf race in that world.
She rejoined the alliance, seeing it as a way not only to exact revenge on all those who had spurned, despised, or tormented her, but most importantly, to ascend to true godhood, fueled by the blood sacrifices she brings.
During the time of trouble, the two hundred and forty-four lords of the city of Hammerhal's Heavenhall debated fiercely what to do before Morathi arrived. She addressed them all and convinced them to send the city's armies to join their own to attack the realm of Shyish.
The Shadow Queen prophesies that Slaanesh will eventually escape from her prison. She delivers this prophecy to the new Elvish gods, warning that while Slaanesh may be powerful, they are beyond their comprehension and none of them have the power to contain them completely. Malerion openly disregards them and Tyrion doesn't care. Only Teclis seeks her wisdom in secret. To prepare for this war, Morathi draws more and more Scáthborn from the belly of Slaanesh.
Morathi's spies can be found in every corner of the Mortal Realms, ever in search of artifacts from the long-dead God of Murder. Of these spies, a group of Khainite shadowstalkers brought news of Archaon's plans to Morathi. The Everchosen wanted to use a newly discovered vein of Varanite realmstone to break the seal Sigmar had affixed to the Meteoric Gate, the arcade connecting Azyr to the Eightpoints.[8a] Morathi had long desired Varanite and declared it the "Blood of Khaine". ', and the duty of every Khainite to reclaim it from the unworthy.
On this occasion, Morathi hatches a plan. She meets with the god-king Sigmar in Azyr and proposes an expedition into the Archaons' domain to remove the Varanites and sink the extraction operation. Sigmar, who has always been suspicious of the High Oracle, reluctantly agrees as the risk of a Chaos invasion of Azyr is simply too great.[8a] So both the God-King and Morathi gather their forces and assemble an army that is larger than anything seen since realmgate wars. Determined to achieve her goal of bringing Morathi to Varanthax' Maw and freeing the Varanites from the forces of Chaos. Warriors from several Khainite temples and Stormhosts invaded the Eightpoints via the Ghyran Arcway, the Genesis Gate. The first attack shattered the Chaos fortifications with little resistance.
As the forces of Order march toward their objective, the forces of Chaos are in turmoil as Katakros, Mortarch of the Necropolis, launches another assault on Varan Spire. Unbeknownst to Sigmar, Morathi offered bones imbued with pure Ulgu shadow magic in exchange for Katakros distracting the Chaos Hordes from their attack.
Apperance
Morathi, who always treasured her beauty, found herself transformed after escaping Slaanesh's womb in the Age of Myth. Her true form is gigantic, her lower body that of a massive winged serpent, twisted by shadow magic and the ravages of Slaanesh, while her upper body retains her famed humanoid beauty. The runes on her snake-like belly stand for destruction, revenge, snake, shadow and blood. Her mastery of illusion magic allows her to hide this form from others. Instead of the serpentine Shadow Queen, she appears as the beautiful Aelven Queen. Her form framed by wings of the finest shadowmetal, and her supernatural beauty powerful enough to paralyze her victims. While her illusions were strong and most beings in the Mortal Realms deceived, Morathi constantly had to expend some of her strength to maintain the facade. When her concentration was broken or she gave in to her emotions, her true nature revealed itself. After such an event, it was often days or months before she reverted to her aelven form.
After their encounter in the depths of Slaanesh, their physical form was split in two. Her soul simultaneously inhabits two bodies, the Aelven Queen known as Morathi-Khaine and the bestial Shadow Queen.
