Unveil the terror of the Dark Young, nightmarish entities from the Cthulhu Mythos associated with the vile deity Shub-Niggurath. These horrifying Creatures are pitch-black monstrosities, seemingly composed of ropy, sinuous tentacles. Towering like ancient trees on their stumpy, hoofed legs, the Dark Young are crowned with a mass of writhing tentacles where a head would normally be. Their flanks are covered in puckered maws that drip with a sickly green goo, adding to their repulsive appearance.

Resembling twisted, monstrous trees in silhouette—with their short legs representing trunks and their ropy, branching bodies forming the treetop—the Dark Young exude an unsettling aroma reminiscent of an open grave. They are often found in dense woodlands where Shub-Niggurath's cult is active and are summoned to preside over dark ceremonies. The ritual to call forth a Dark Young, as detailed in the Book of Eibon, requires a blood offering and must be performed in the deepest woods during the darkest phase of the moon, with the sacrifice conducted over a stone altar.

The Dark Young act as proxies for Shub-Niggurath, accepting sacrifices, enforcing cultist worship, devouring non-cultists, and spreading their malevolent faith across the world.
