Custodian Guard Squad
When shield companies of the Adeptus Custodes march out to battle the enemies of humanity, it is the Custodian Guard that forms their backbone. These warriors are simple infantry only in that their numbers outnumber the other, more specialized warriors of the Adeptus Custodes. Even one of them is a terrifying force of destruction, every shot perfectly placed, every slash, thrust and thrust a master class in bladecraft, footwork and combat awareness that sees enemy corpses fall like dead leaves at his feet. Incredibly strong, phenomenally resilient, utterly without fear or doubt, the Custodian Guard rivals many enemies' most elite warriors.
Custodian Guard is steadfast on defense and unstoppable on offense. Such squads have no formal memberships, and Guardians can switch from one squad to another before each new campaign or even battle. With their individualistic fighting styles, the Custodian Guard doesn't fight like a conventional unit of soldiers - it's enough for them to know that they're fighting shoulder to shoulder with respected comrades and that their comrades are watching them back if the enemy presses close.
As with all Adeptus Custodes, the Custodian Guard has the Emperor's power flowing through their veins, and his protective aegis surrounds them like a shield. Their traditional weapon is the Guardian Spear, a golden halberd so heavy it would take several men to lift it. This compound weapon is both a powered blade capable of chopping a Chaos Space Marine in two, and a boltgun to combat threats from afar. Conversely, some Wardens prefer to go into battle armed with a Sentinel Blade and a Storm Shield. The Sentinel Blade is a broadsword of frightening size, so large that its hilt is flanked by the dual barrels of a bolt caster, capable of putting down a hail of fire at short range. It is a testament to the Wardens' strength that they can wield these powered blades with one hand. Coupled with the Storm Shield's armored bulwark - whose protections are augmented by a built-in energy shield generator - this potent combination allows the Custodian Guard to slice through their enemies and survive even the most devastating attacks.
As befits their elevated status, squads of the Custodian Guard can call in vintage Venerable Land Raider main battle tanks to lead into war. The combination of demigod-like warriors and massive war machinery is frighteningly powerful, and when multiple such squads advance simultaneously, even super-heavy armor and towering demonic abominations cannot bear their wrath.
This multi-part plastic kit contains the components required to assemble a set of 5 Adeptus Custodes Custodian Guard, armed with either Guardian Spears or Sentinel Blades and Storm Shields. 1 model can be built as a Shield-Captain, with a cloak and a choice of 2 heads, and 1 can be built as a Vexilus Praetors carrying Custodes Vexilla.
