Crown Support Squadrons - Information
While the Crown Navy's Frontline Squadrons are accustomed to dueling with enemy fleets, the Support Squadrons perform a range of unique tasks to help the fleet as a whole fulfill its missions. The Hotspur Support Carriers provide additional support through fighters. It is common for Hotspur captains to steer their ships at full speed towards the enemy, hoping their large engines will give their Defiant fighters an optimal starting position. The Agincourt Bombardment Cruisers are equipped with the dreaded Taranis Naval Mortar, capable of hurling projectiles of all kinds over a range of more than fifteen miles.
The Athelstan Flak Cruiser provides anti-aircraft fire defense to ensure that the Defiant Squadrons hit their targets and defend the decks of the Crown ships. A squadron of Athelstan was deployed on the Thames to celebrate the Queen's 60th Jubilee, firing magnesium pyrotechnics over the city to mark the occasion.
The Excalibur Heavy Destroyers are also typically found alongside the Victory class or other capital ships. Their role is to prevent smaller assault ships from encircling the immense carrier and other large command ships.
The Crown Support Squadrons kit includes eight multi-part miniatures made of plastic:
- 2x Agincourt Cruisers (Each cruiser can alternatively be built as Athelstan or Hotspur class)
- 2x Excalibur Heavy Destroyers
- 2x Morgana Submarines
- 2x SRS Tokens
