After the Dieppe raid, it was clear that new equipment was needed to penetrate beach defenses and other fortifications. The Armoured Vehicle Royal Engineers (AVRE) was developed to meet this need. Essentially, the AVRE was a Churchill Mk III or IV with a new main gun and a number of attachments for various engineering tasks welded on. These attachments allowed the AVRE to lay track in soft terrain, bridge small gaps, clear mines, and so on. In a normal bolt-action battle, however, the most important change is the main armament. The AVRE is armed with a 290-mm Petard mortar that fires an 18-kg projectile specifically designed to destroy fortifications. The "flying trash can" of explosives moves so slowly that it cannot be seen, but the effect is devastating....

The Churchill AVRE Bobbin was a roll of 10-foot-wide canvas reinforced with steel rods. It was unrolled to form a "path" along which the AVRE and subsequent vehicles could advance to avoid sinking into the soft ground during beach assaults.

This stunning Trenchworx kit consists of resin, metal and 3D printed components.

The models come unassembled and unpainted.
