Overview

The Cadian Shock Troops, sometimes called Cadians, are the highly disciplined soldiers of the Astra Militarum Militarum Regimentum, recruited in large numbers from the fortress world of Cadia, once considered the preeminent bastion of the Empire of Mankind in the fight against the Emperor's ancient nemesis, Chaos .

Cadia was a world among many tens of thousands in the Empire of Mankind, and holds an honored and violent place in its history, for Cadia stood at the edge of the Eye of Terror in the Segmentum Obscurus, in a narrow corridor of navigable space known as the Cadian Gate.

As a result, Cadia endured the constant onslaughts of the forces of Chaos from within the Eye for 10,000 standard years, remaining unbowed and undefeated until Abaddon the Despoiler unleashed his 13th Black Crusade. This tale of never-ending nemesis menace has created a world of warriors who are still known for unrivaled discipline and skill, and whose Astra Militarum regiments serve as a model for the rest of the Imperial Guard and humanity.

Cadia is synonymous with brave defiance and righteous scorn on countless worlds, and with good reason. Located within a narrow, stable passageway known as the Cadian Gate into the heart of the Eye of Terror, the Cadian Sector is a bastion against the intrusion of the forces of Chaos that for millennia have resisted the onslaught of traitors, heretics, and withstands demons. Cadia was among the foremost fortress worlds in the Empire, with each soul trained from infancy to defend their world and all Imperial worlds beyond against the abominations that dwell in the colossal warp storm that ruled their skies.

Except for a small minority made up of those who could not serve as soldiers, every child on Cadia was expected to serve from the age of fourteen standard until maturity in the Cadian Youth Army, better known as the Whiteshields. served and learned the combat skills and discipline considered essential. Many of them went on to serve by joining the Inner Guard (the Cadian Planetary Defense Force) as adults and risking their lives in defense of Cadia, a force of hundreds, even thousands, of regimental-strength units, equal to any comparable Greatness of the Imperial Guard.

Even those who did not remain in military service—filling a rearguard role vital to the upkeep of a vast defensive army—were expected to retain their skills and remain alert, stepping up to fight should the Inner Guard be overwhelmed. Indeed, such was the number of able youth soldiers, Inner Guards, reservists, and sheer quantity of new recruits on Cadia each year that many invasions were defeated by attrition alone, as the invading armies were unable to deal with the hundreds of millions of Cadians keep up .

The Cadian Shock Troops are the model many other regiments are based on, and with good reason. These trusty soldiers wield several special weapons, and are particularly good at stoically keeping up with targets with their blazing laser cannons.

This multi-part plastic kit makes 10 Cadian Shock Troopers - the core of many Astra Militarum regiments. Each Shock Trooper is armed with frag grenades and a trusty laser rifle, led by a Sergeant armed with either a drum-fed autogun or a chainsword with a laser pistol or bolt pistol. The kit also includes a variety of special weapons to equip your Shock Troopers with - a flamethrower, grenade launcher, melta gun and plasma cannon - as well as a vox-caster for battlefield communications.

You'll also find plenty of cosmetic options to ensure no two squads of Shocktroopers look the same - including different poses, more then 20 different heads, sandbags, combat knives, a spade, a spare helmet, and plenty of bedding.

This kit comes as 131 plastic components, and is supplied with ten Citadel 25mm Round Bases. Also included is a Cadian Infantry Transfer Sheet with 597 Decals featuring numerals, squad markings and Cadian regimental heraldry. These miniatures are supplied unpainted and require assembly.
