Designed before 1941 by a team of British, Polish and Czech designers, it was built with a focus on being simpler and much cheaper to manufacture than the Oerlikon, without sacrificing its effectiveness.
Although the British command at the time preferred the 40mm Bofors to 20mm guns, it was decided that there was still a need - the poles, compared to the Oerlikon gun, which consisted of 250 Parts only Had 119 Parts, about 13500 would be built and see service late 1944.
300 lightweight and collapsible frames were specially designed to meet the needs of the new airborne service in preparation for the invasion of Europe and would be seen in action for Operation Market Garden and the Arnhem Airdrop.
Many other variants of this simple and effective weapon were developed to fit a variety of vehicles, such as the Crusader AA, and remained in service well into the 1950s.
Models are supplied unassembled and unpainted
