In AD 43, Aulus Plautius led the Roman legions to the edge of the known world: to the mysterious land of the Britons. The Emperor Claudius demanded victory, and what better way to do that than to bring this savage nation under the Roman yoke.
Rome commanded vast armies of professional soldiers with the necessary infrastructure to feed, transport, equip and command them. This mighty military machine faced only a patchwork of tribes and savage barbarian warriors. A man who refused to yield to the conquerors emerged as the champion of the Britons: Caractacus! Defeated in open battle, Caractacus turned to guerrilla warfare: raids and ambushes of enemy troops on the march. No Roman could defeat him; In the end, it was treachery that defeated the Briton's greatest champion: the treachery of Queen Cartimadua of the Brigantes.
It was another Queen of the Britons who ten years later led the greatest rebellion against Roman rule: Boudica, Queen of the Iceni. Years of resentment and oppression culminated in a war that nearly drove the Romans out of Britain, burned London, and humiliated even the mighty legions.
So this is the story of the Roman invasion of Britain, from the Claudian Conquest and the wars of Caractacus to the defeat of Boudica and the annihilation of the Druids on Mona. Included in this supplement is a card-based campaign game recreating the invasion, as well as historical scenarios covering the Wars of Caractacus and the Revolt of Boudican.
