Ogres have been playing Blood Bowl since the game was rediscovered. In fact, they were the first of the "big ones," as they were called, to take the field. After all, with their childlike intelligence, destructive nature, and great strength and size, they make the perfect Blood Bowl players. Ogres have played on many teams, and the most famous - Morg 'n' Thorg - was voted "greatest player of all time" in a spike! Magazine poll.
While ogres are commonly found as solo players in teams, actual ogre teams are far less common. This has a lot to do with the fact that it's virtually impossible to get 11 ogres on the same pitch at once, as ogres tend to forget everything they're doing, get caught up in a dugout brawl, or just go to the nearest pub and let yourself be banged on. Because of this, Ogre trainers (the smartest of their kind) tend to fill out the team with smaller races to gently nudge the big boys and remind them what to do. Until recently, ogre trainers often used goblins to help, but after more than one ogre team went bankrupt due to goblins' kleptomaniac tendencies, ogre teams began using an even lesser race to help - Snotlings.
Surprisingly, Snotlings have some advantages over Goblins. The most important thing, of course, is a general lack of "sticky fingers" and therefore a healthier bank record for the team. They're quick, too, and more than a few players flushed when a snotling shot between their legs for a touchdown. Of course, Snotlings have a long list of downsides, the main one being a complete lack of staying power on the pitch. A Snotling knows they need a companion just to even their chances of blocking a Halfling! Even tripping over a rock has resulted in snotling fatalities, and the more times a snotling is thrown off the field by an ogre, the greater the chance it will one day end up face down in the end zone. And the last thing on his mind? The lawn!
