Arguably the world's first infantry fighting vehicle, the Berliet VUDB was a revolutionary design that not only transported troops but allowed them to engage in combat from within. Equipped with multiple weapon ports, this vehicle enabled soldiers to fire their weapons while remaining protected inside.

Initially designed in the 1930s to help police France's North African colonies, the Berliet VUDB continued to serve at the onset of the Second World War. It saw action both in North Africa and in France, demonstrating its versatility and effectiveness. Belgium also fielded the Berliet VUDB during WWII, recognizing its strategic value in infantry operations.

The Berliet VUDB's ability to provide both mobility and firepower made it a pioneering force in military vehicle design, setting the stage for future developments in armored infantry transport and combat vehicles.
