Beast of Nurgle
A demonic beast in the service of the plague god Nurgle, the Beast of Nurgle is truly a horror on the battlefield. It has the soft, sticky, and mottled body of a pale snail, webbed feet flapping uselessly, a face of writhing green tentacles, and a whip tail that bursts out of its back, constantly wagging from side to side.
The Beasts of Nurgle are the essence of mindless decay and horrid rot in putrid flesh, and exemplify the plague lord's endless enthusiasm and infatuation with the forces of life and death. As such, a beast delights in discovering new things and (to its very simple mind) making new friends. When brought into realspace, they behave almost like an inquisitive and inquisitive pet, examining anything and everything in sight and spreading disease and rot wherever they go.
Huge, snail-like monstrosities, Beasts of Nurgle, crawl across the ground on their bellies, propelled feebly by clawed fins, leaving a layer of fetid slime in their wake. The beast, though slow, is relentless in its advance, unperturbed by all but the most fearsome weapons, as relentless as the decay it embodies. Each is a nightmarish conglomeration of Parts, with a long neck supporting a wide-eyed face of almost blissful idiocy. The gaping, tooth-filled mouth houses a lolling tongue that oozes putrid saliva. Clusters of squirming Tubes sprout from the beast's neck and back, each spewing swarms of buzzing flies, clouds of vomit-inducing gases, flesh-eating liquids that can find gaps in even the strongest armor, or other foul bounties.
The beast of Nurgle is no less deadly than ugly, for its touch inflicts paralysis and its slimy secretions rot anything it covers. The mere proximity of a beast is enough to kill small animals and plants, and even larger Creatures can noticeably age and deteriorate in their presence. In fact, the beast is the embodiment of the mindless decay of the universe. Despite its fearsome appearance and deadly traits, the beast is an affectionate creature that behaves in every way exactly like an overly friendly and excitable pup. It craves attention and greets newcomers by drooling on them with its slimy tentacles.
Once thoroughly aroused, they can rarely (if ever) control themselves, leaving little mounds of acrid mucus. All this attention isn't a problem for other Creatures and Nurgle's minions, but tends to kill mortals fairly quickly. Unlike most demons, a beast doesn't kill with rending claws and tearing teeth, but with a strange form of kindness. Victims are fondled, fondled, and caressed with the demon's numerous tentacles, while its long tongue delivers slimy and slimy licks.
In a very short time, the victim becomes sick, infected, dissolved, and then crushed, crushed beneath the beast's massive mass. For his part, the Beast feels a touch of sadness that his now-dead friend can't join in the merriment, but quickly forgets about it when something (or someone) new catches his attention.
Once the beast's new friend stops moving, its interest quickly shifts to another target, and in this way the creature excitedly and lovingly poisons and kills just about anything it touches. Having only the most rudimentary sense of intelligence, the Beast never suspects the outcome of its boisterous behavior, registering only a slight sense of disappointment when each new friend grows silent and boring.
Manifesting in combat alongside the Death Guard Traitor Legion's Heretic Astartes, Beasts of Nurgle are cynically exploited as line-breaking units. The Deathguard have little time for the attention of the beasts, and like most, have little time to be crushed under their galloping weight. So they drive the beasts to the enemy as best they can, often baiting the Creatures with frenzied tanks - which they like to hunt down - or bands of hapless Chaos cultists. Should the beasts be torn apart by heavy fire, at least those grenades won't fall on valuable Death Guard warriors. When the Beasts of Nurgle successfully punch a hole in enemy lines, Mortarion's Sons waste no time in taking Advantage.
This kit comes as 48 components, and is supplied with a Citadel 60mm Round base. Beasts of Nurgle can be added to Warhammer 40,000 and Warhammer Age of Sigmar armies.
