Bad Moon Loonshrine
It begins with strange storms tearing the sky apart, filling it with shreds of cloud like a grotling's torn cloak. Up becomes down as strange forces get to work and the honest magic of realms is thrown awry. Rivers flow backwards, beasts spin endless Widdershin circles until exhaustion overwhelms them, and swarms of slimy insects crawl out of every crack and hole. Then comes the evil moon, emerging through the torn clouds. As his grinning face fills the sky, the sky fades from view until everything is instead lit with the sickly glow of dawn. Then the fungus erupts and the ground shakes and trembles like some disgusting animal or carcass with maggots crawling thickly under its rippling skin. Out come the grotlings, as sure as Elder Bones waits beyond the gates of death, and as they pour out, the fangs of the evil moon come down. It spits them out in mouthfuls, and they fall like a shower of stones on the doomed lands below. Crashing and crashing they fall, to the destruction of all beneath them, and so high the spores rise from the craters they blast that people call them mushroom clouds. But that's not the end of it. The Grlings come scurrying. The grotlings set about carving. What fell as a mound of shapeless, glowing rock soon becomes a ghostly face. Loonshrines they call them, but I'd say their name is death itself. Tunnels exist beneath these horrid carved effigies, and they squirt the grotlings like vomit from a fluxred victim's mouth. Rot fungi cover the shrines from bottom to top, and they tremble and shudder in the rancid winds, spilling clouds of spores that get caught in their eyes and throats, burrowing into flesh and causing horrific changes. The worst, however, are the eyes. Carved out of stone as they are, I tell you, as I stand here, these eyes can see. The longer you stare the more they stare back, and as the idiot light shines within them and the quivering circles in their depths roll and twist, oh, then you feel your spirit begin to slip into the darkness and damp where he wander will be lost forever. At least hear me out - don't go near the Loonshrines!"
