Arkhan the Black is the Mortarch of the Sacrament. Only Arhkan the Black is truly loyal to Nagash, and it is he whom the Supreme Lord of the Undead often chooses to lead his armies and perform those tasks which he would not entrust to anyone else.
Like the other Mortarchs, Arkhan has many names and titles, including Mortarch of Sacrament, Vizier of the Immortal King, Hand of Death and Castle of Nagashizzar. The Daughters of the Underworld call him the Prince of the Forgotten Deserts and the lover of the Queen of the Night.
Unlike many corpses in Nagash’s service, Arkhan appears not only as a withered shell, dressed in robes and armor of rich purple and gold, radiating a power surpassed only by that of its master. As an animated skeleton, he lacks any expression except a grin with black teeth.
