Onager Dunecrawler
The Onager Dunecrawler is a walker used by Adeptus Mechanicus Skitarii. Based on technology from the Dark Age of Technology, the Onager Dunecrawler is based on the Mars Universal Land Engine (or M.U.L.E.); itself inspired by the ill-tempered beasts of burden that transported their masters across Holy Terra in ancient times. The M.U.L.E. was designed by famed techno-archaeologist Arkhan Land as a means of transport, but was soon converted into a weapon of war. It was renamed, fitted with Force Shielding and replicated millions of times over. The Dunecrawler of M41 is largely similar and can even outperform the rugged vehicles of the Space Marines.
No mere carrier, the Onager Dunecrawler is packed to the brim with advanced weaponry that can include an Eradication Beamer, Phosphor Blasters, Neutron Lasers and a Coaxial Heavy Stubber. It can also be equipped with an Icarus Array, a powerful air defence package that includes two machine guns, a Gatling missile launcher and a Daedalus missile launcher.
The Dunecrawler maintains a two-man crew that is linked to its onager host in a symbiotic relationship. Its gunner is a former Skitarii Ranger who uses his accuracy, while the driver is a Skitarii Vanguard whose resistance to harmful energies allows him to immerse himself in an electro-amniotic fluid that allows direct communication with the runner's machine spirit. The crews, treated as expendable batteries, inevitably die over time and are promptly replaced.
On the subject of weapons, four variants are included in the box: an annihilation blaster, two phosphor blasters with sensors, a neutron laser with a coaxial Cognis heavy stubber or an Icarus array - a fantastic air defence package with two autocannons, a Gatling flak launcher, an armour-piercing rocket launcher and a radar dish.
A small decal sheet of the Adeptus Mechanicus and a round base (130 mm) are included in this multi-part plastic kit of 119 parts from which an Onager Dunecrawler can be built.
