The Immolator is a flamethrower tank used exclusively by the Adepta Sororitas Orders Militant as a transport and heavy support vehicle. The Immolator is a variant of the standard Rhino APC chassis, with the weapon system mounted on the vehicle's roof.
Unlike the Space Marines' Razorback, which uses a remote-controlled weapon system, the Immolator requires a Battle-Sister to control the weapon directly. The Immolator is typically armed with dual-linked heavy flamethrowers, but can be armed with other weapons as well.
The Tank is capable of transporting a squad of up to six Sisterhood members into battle, and unlike the Rhino, the Immolator can fight alongside the Sisters as heavy infantry support. The Immolator is usually slightly better armored than the base Rhino.
The doors and hatches of the Immolator are often cast to include the Order's symbol or the fleur-de-lys, the icon of the Adepta Sororitas. These casts are from the great Convent Sanctorum and Convent Prioris on Ophelia VII and Terra. Due to old contracts with the Adeptus Mechanicus, the Immolator is built exclusively for the Adeptus Ministorum and used only by the Sisters of Battle.
The Standard Template Construct (STC) design for building the Immolator was discovered in the 35th Millennium by the Frateris Templars, the original forces of the Ecclesiarchy. After nearly 30 years of fighting and exploring the Ultima Segmentum during the Icaria Crusade, the Templars found an abandoned Manufactorum complex on the world of Fornost.
The Adeptus Ministorum, knowing that the Manufactorum complex and the vast stacks of data from the Dark Age of Technology found deep within would be of great value to the Adeptus Mechanicus, planned to use the Manufactorum's location as a bargaining chip . After many years of negotiations with the Mechanicus, an agreement known as the Fornosian Accords was reached.
The basic armament of the Immolator tank is doubly linked heavy flamethrowers, as the idea of ??sacred fire is symbolic of the idea of ??cleansing the corrupt and sinful worlds of the Emperor. The Immolator also has two less common armament patterns it can use.
The "Justice" armament pattern equips the Immolator with dual-linked multi-meltas, making it a powerful anti-tank vehicle. The rarer "Sanctis" armament pattern features two-row heavy bolters. The Immolator can be invalidated to use Holy Promethium when equipped with the Heavy Flamethrowers, or Blessed Ammunition when equipped with the Heavy Bolters.
Like all vehicles of the Militant Order of the Adepta Sororitas, the Immolator is protected by holy wards, sigils, and sigils of purity, and each vehicle is adorned with numerous holy icons and relics to inspire sisters in battle with religious fervor. The Immolator can also be outfitted with a Holy Icon, a Dozer Blade, a Hunter-Killer missile launcher, Laud Hailers, extra armor, a searchlight, and smoke launchers.
The Immolator comes equipped with a hull-mounted heavy bolter and can be mounted on its turret with a choice of three main armaments - Immolation flamethrowers, twin heavy bolters, or twin multi-melta. It can also be equipped with an optional Hunter-Killer missile.
